77th Republic Day was celebrated on 26 January 2026 at Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences, near Flag post area. Program begun with word of prayer by Rev.Fr.Ajin Philip, Chaplain, P.I.M.S. Followed by Dr. G.Annal Angeline, Principal, CON-PIMS welcomed the gathering. Dr. Anil J Purty, Registrar, handed over the bouquet to the Chief Guest Dr.S.Yuvarajan, MD (Pul Med) and Dr.Srikanth.L, Principal, School of Physiotherapy, P.I.M.S handed over the memento to Chief Guest. Followed that flag was unfurled by the Chief Guest (led by Mr.Binod Roy, Security Manager) and National salute and National Anthem offered by the gathering. NCC Cadets, MBBS and BSC Nursing (2025 batch) students and Security guards done March past and offered general salute to the National flag and same was taken by the chief Guest.
Dr. Nishanth Rajan, Vice Principal (UG) introduced the Chief Guest. Followed that Chief Guest Dr.S.Yuvarajan, MD (Pul Med) delivered Republic day address. Chief Guest and Dignitaries issued certificates of merit and mementoes to the best employees and employees with 20 years of service credit. Dr.Stalin.P, Vice Principal, Post Graduate and Research delivered vote of thanks. Lt.Dr.P.Hemavathi, Asst.Prof, CON/ ANO, PIMS involved in Cadets and Students training for the Republic day parade.
Refreshment was arranged for Guests and students at conference hall, College of Nursing and Zenith, PIMS campus respectively.


Cadet.Sabitha.R from B.SC Nursing II year (2024 batch) has attended the Leadership and Team building course at Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand, from 7th January to 16 January 2026. This course is specifically designed to transform NCC cadets into resilient leaders through high-altitude experiential learning. Cadet.Sabitha.R developed her leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in challenging environments.


A Beach Cleaning Activity and Awareness Program was jointly organized with ARISE and the Environmental Foundation of India on 20th December 2025 at Kottakuppam Beach.
A total of 10 NCC cadets actively participated in the program under the supervision of the Lt.Dr.P.Hemavathi, Associate NCC Officer. The cadets were involved in cleaning the beach area by collecting plastic waste, bottles, and other non-biodegradable materials. They also created awareness among the public and visitors about the importance of environmental protection, proper waste disposal, and the harmful effects of plastic pollution on marine life.
The program aimed to promote environmental responsibility, community participation, and sustainable practices among the cadets and the general public. The activity was conducted successfully with enthusiastic participation from all the cadets and other NSS volunteers.
The event helped to inculcate a sense of social responsibility and environmental consciousness among the NCC cadets.


AIDS Awareness Programme
AIDS awareness rally and flash mob was organized by NCC jointly with NSS unit and Red Ribbon Club of CON, PIMS. The event aimed to educate the community about safe practices, early testing, need for compassion towards individuals living with HIV and stigma reduction.
Rally was flagged off by Medical Officer and Dr.D.Anusuya, Red Ribbon club Coordinator. Rally was led by Lt.Dr.P.Hemavthi, Associate NCC Officer and it went through the main roads of Kalapet. Participants marched holding placards and banners carrying awareness messages. Slogans were raised to attract the attention of the public and spread key information on AIDS prevention.
A Flash Mob was performed at selected junctions of the Kalapet to engage the public in an interactive and impactful manner.
The programme received positive response from the local community, and the event successfully conveyed the message of AIDS awareness in an accessible and engaging manner.



On account of National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Programme (NIDDCP)
• Awareness talk was given to school children at GHSS, Alankuppam
• Followed that Rally was conducted. Cadets and students marched holding placards and banners carrying awareness messages. Slogans were raised to attract the attention of the public and spread key information on importance of iodine intake.
• Awareness talk was given to clients. Iodine rich food items exhibition and pamphlet distribution was organized in HWC, Alankuppam.
This programme was jointly organized with HWC, Alankuppam



The 150th year of the iconic patriotic song Vande Mataram was commemorated with great enthusiasm and national spirit As part of the celebration, various activities were organized jointly by 1 (P) Girls Indep Coy to highlight the historical significance and patriotic essence of the song.
A mural awareness activity was conducted at Beach Road, Puducherry, where the cadets made patriotic rangoli and engaged the public. The event got published in the newspaper.
In addition, a blood donation camp was organized jointly with 1(P) Air Squadron at the PIMS campus. Many students, cadets, and staff from all three wings came forward voluntarily to donate blood, contributing to a noble cause and reflecting the spirit of service.A total of 15 eligible volunteers donated the blood.
As a mark of unity and patriotism, all the students and cadets of the College of Nursing joined together to sing the Vande Mataram song. Their collective voice created an inspiring and patriotic atmosphere during the event.





One health event was organized by department of community medicine, PIMS on 3rd November 2025 at PIMS campus. NCC cadets actively participated in One health Rally and recited the slogan on "One Earth, One Health".


Puducherry Liberation day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on 1st November 2025 at Rock beach road, Puducherry. Parade practice was conducted from 24th October to 30th October for both morning and evening session. Total 22 cadets from 2021, 2022, 2023 & 2024 batch involved in the parade practice. Finally 17 cadets got selected for the march past from PIMS.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru N. Rangasamy hoisted the national flag in the presence of Lieutenant Governor, Ministers and Govt. Officials near Gandhi Statue followed by delivered message. Various cultural events were organized depicting the valor and tradition of Tamil culture.
1 (P) Girls Contingent with 34 cadets performed impressive March past along with other Pondicherry team. A group photograph was taken to commemorate the occasion, and refreshments were arranged for all the participating cadets. The event instilled a sense of pride and patriotism among the students.


Unity Day is celebrated annually on October 31st in India to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's pivotal role in the country's unification. This day was established in 2014 and commemorates Patel's birth anniversary.
On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), 15 NCC cadets participated in the celebration held on 31st October under the guidance of Lt. Dr. P. Hemavathi as per the order received from 1 (P) Girls Indep Coy, NCC. .
The Unity Day Oath was read by Hon’ble Lt. Governor Dr. C. Kailashnathan in the gracious presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru N. Rangasamy. Run for Unity was also organized. Followed that 1 (P) Girls Indep Co, contingent with 32 cadets done March past. .
As part of the programme, a photographic display on the life history of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's arranged. The cadets enthusiastically viewed the exhibition and gained valuable insights into the life and contributions of the Iron man of India. .
The cadets actively took part in the proceedings and reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the values of unity and patriotism. The event highlighted the importance of national unity and integrity among citizens.

A Coastal cleaning drive was organized on 20th September 2025 as part of the Nationwide “Swachhata Hi Sewa” campaign. The event was jointly conducted by Oulgaret Municipality, NCC & NSS unit of PIMS.
A total 17 participants enthusiastically took part in the cleanliness drive at Seashore, Ganapathichettikulam, Puducherry. The programme began with the Swachhata pledge where all volunteers pledged to uphold cleanliness and encourage others to do the same,. It was recited by Er.Vengadessane.S, Junior Engineer, Oulgaret Municipality. .
This was followed by the cleaning activity along the coastal area, where the volunteers and PWD Swachhata team collected plastic wastes, bottles, and other non-biodegradable materials. The initiative not only helped in restoring the cleanliness of the seashore but also spread awareness among the local community about the importance of keeping our environment clean and pollution free. .
At the end of the programme refreshment and breakfast were provided to all the participants as a token of appreciation for their dedicated efforts. Programme arrangements were made by Lt.Dr.P.Hemavathi, Asst.Prof, CON, ANO-PIMS.

Cadet.Sabitha.R (Regimental number: PY2024SWIA6970128) from B.Sc Nursing I year attended 12 days of NCC Advance Leadership Camp (ALC) from 27th August to 7th Sep 2025 at NSBHSS, Mannar, Alapuzha, Kerala and received certificate.



THALSAINIK CAMP-INTER GROUP COMPETITION

On the eve of victory of operation Sindoor, Pondicherry University organized Tiranga March at University campus. Students and faculty coordinators of affiliated Colleges attended the programme.
Programme begun with National Anthem, Thamizh Thai Vazhthu and Pondicherry University Anthem. Followed that welcome address delivered. Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Govt. of Puducherry Mr.K.Kailashnathan inaugurated the Tiranga March, in the Presence of Hon’ble Home Minister of Puducherry, Mr.A.Namassivayaam and Mr. P.M.L.Kalyanasundaram,MLA, Kalapet Constituency.
Total 10 cadets (2022, 2023 & 2024 batch) and ANO, Lt.Dr.P.Hemavathi, participated in the March as per the instruction received from Pondicherry University.

Cadet.Jeevitha.S studying in B.Sc Nursing IV Sem (2022 Batch) participated in Vikshit Bharat- Young Leaders Dialogue-National Youth Festival 2025 which was organized to identify the talent of the youths and to meet the Honble Prime Minister in New Delhi on 11 &12 January. She represented Puducherry along with other 20 selected students. Event was coordinated by Dr.B.Ravikumar, Associate Professor & Nodal officer, Puducherry University.
She cleared two online rounds in first week December and one offline presentation about Empowering women and importance of social indicator on 26 December 2024 at Pondicherry University. After an interview she got selected for PPT presentation in National Youth Festival 2025. The team met Honb’le Kailashanathan, Lieutenant Governor, Puducherry and Dr.Thanikarasu, vice chancellor, pondicherry university on 6th january at governor’s office, puducherry before proceeding to National Youth Festival.
Team reached New Delhi on 9th January. She presented on Empowering women and improvement of social indicator in the Young Leaders Dialogue. Team got chance to meet and interact Honb’le Prime Minister, many other ministers and leaders including Honb’le Finance Minister Smt.Nirmala Seetharaman, Smt.Meeta Rajivlochan, IAS, Secretary to the GoI, Department of Youth Affairs, Senior officers from Armed forces. Cadet.Jeevitha.S successfully attended the event at New Delhi and reported back on 14 January.

It is aware that the Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram, also known as ULLAS (Understating Lifelong Learning for All in Societies) is an “Education for All” programme which aims to educate non-literates of age 15 and above and to achieve 100% literacy in India. This Scheme is for five years from 2022 to 2027.
According to the circular issued by the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education with the slogan ‘Each one Teach Ten’ for TEI and ‘Each one Teach Five’ for NSS volunteers and NCC cadets helped a lot and motivated teacher training institutions to perform Door to Door survey. At present nearly 300 electoral booths are in survey and remaining 433 booths need to be surveyed. So the training was conducted to NSS & NCC officers of College education at DIET, Lawspet, Puducherry.
Dr.Anusuya.D, Asst.Prof cum NSS officer & Lt.Dr.P.Hemavathi, Asst.Prof cum ANO, CON attended the training. About 50 NSS & NCC officers attended the training. Mr.Rajkumar, Programme coordinator briefed about ULLAS structure and function which covers training of volunteers towards the door to door survey to identify the non learners and teaching the non learners. He also mentioned the benefit to the volunteers and NSS & NCC officers. The program came to an end at 5pm. Refreshment arrangements were made by DHTE unit.

Welcome address given by Dr. Anil J Purty, Registrar, PIMS. Followed that Dr.Renu G Boy Varghese Director Principal, PIMS handed over the bouquet to the chief guest Prof. Dr.R.P. Swaminathan, Head of General Medicine. Flag was hoisted by the Chief guest and National Salute given by the gathering, which was followed by Indian National Anthem by the student choir.
March past done by NCC Cadets, Students of MBBS, B.Sc Nursing and College of Health sciences I year and Security guards. Dr. Nishanth Rajan, Vice Principal-UG introduced the chief guest followed that Independence Day address by Chief guest Prof. Dr.R.P. Swaminathan, Head of General Medicine, PIMS. Dr.Stalin.P, Vice Principal PG & Research handed over the memento to the Chief Guest. Dr.Nayyar Iqbal, Coordinator-MEU, delivered vote of thanks. Lt.Dr.P.Hemavathi, Asst.Prof cum ANO, CON given drill training to the cadets and students. Mr.Binod Roy, Security Manager.
Dr. Annal Angeline, Principal, College of Nursing and Dr.Shweta Oommen, Principal College of Health sciences, graced the occasion by their presence. HODs, Faculty, Staff and students were part of the Independence Day celebration.
Following seven cadets, Shriya S.S, Durga.V, Padmashri, Pavithra.V, Pranaya, Priayadharshini.D, and Priayadharshini.L from 2022 & 2023 batch participated in Independence Day parade at Beach road, Puducherry.
NCC unit- PIMS observed Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from 09-15 Aug 2024. Tiranga Rallies and Marches on public places, distributed flags, hoisted the National Flag at their homes during the Independence Day to inspire the citizens Photos were uploaded by the Cadets and obtained E- Certificate on the portal www.harghartiranga.com.

• Cadets reported to the unit on 24.11.24 at 12 noon and reported back on 25.11.24 at 6.30pm.

• International Yoga day 2024 was observed jointly by NCC & NSS unit of College of Nursing, PIMS on 21st June 2024.
• Theme “Yoga for Self & Society” was unfolded by Lt.Dr.P.Hemavathi, Asst.Prof CON and Associate NCC Officer, PIMS.
• Yoga was demonstrated by Ms.Revathishree B.Sc. (N) III Sem (2022 batch) who awarded with Gold medal in Yogasana Championship -2022, Dhyanchand state award 2022 and Bronze medal in Khelo India -2023.
• Total 299 students and 25 faculty and staff took part in the event
